Back at it

This past weekend was the annual silverstar on-snow camp. It was an amazing camp, with some great training, amazing weather, and a great group of teammates to spend the camp with. For the past four years we have stayed at the Outback Resort, which  is a great place to stay because it's located right on the lake, and the condos we rent are really really nice. This year, the Alberta Ski Team and the Alberta World Cup Academy were also staying there...a busy place!! http://www.theoutbackresort.com/home/
The training was also really good this year, with 3 days of 2+ hours of skiing in the sun, a few good runs, some strength, and for a surprise workout - standup paddleboarding!
During our relax time at the resort we spent the majority of our time swimming in the lake, cliff-jumping, taking in the view, and some team-building activities.
I am pretty tired now, but it was a great weekend and now I have an easy week to soak in all the awesome training I did!

Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Happy New Year

As any cross-country skier would know, the new training season begins on May 1st. That means we are now back to ski training again, although I won't start again with my club until the 7th. I have had an extremely restful April, mainly on the couch as I battled the flu for 6 weeks.

Last year's ski season was a huge learning experience for me. I had a lot of ups and downs but got a lot of lessons from it. However I had a great time training and watching world cup races, and I got to travel to some fun places, including Ottawa and Whistler!!

Nationals was also a new learning experience for me, because I got the flu within a week of the first race. I learned a lot about what it's like when things don't work out as planned, and that sometimes you have to sit on the sidelines and just roll with the punches :)

After a racing season that has taught me a lot, I am really looking forward to a summer full of training, I know it will be great! And I've got more motivation than ever :) I am excited to get back on my rollerskis again, and to start hitting the gym! But first, an on-snow camp with my club in Silverstar next week!

Cheers.
